A family looks at the California Tree, a giant sequoia whose top was struck by lightening in 1967 and lives in spite of losing 25 feet from its crown to fire from the strike. The story of Park Ranger Charlie Castro, who climbed a tree beside it to help put out the blaze, lives on in the lore of General Grant Grove of Kings Canyon National Park.
